RED LION AND STAR (LEFT) The High Street looking towards the Angel. On the left is thought to be the Red Lion and Star public house an ancient building with massive oak beams and a carved ceiling. It was originally the Ferry House, as a creek of the Medway flowed to within a few yards opposite. Next door is Leonard Dale's grocers, opposite and facing the junction is the original Angel Inn and next door to that the premises of Henry Palmer, cabinet maker.
